For as long as I can remember, I was the “heavy kid.” Growing up, my body type was never naturally lean or skinny. Instead, I had the kind of metabolism that seemed to hold onto every single calorie, putting on weight at the slightest opportunity.
As the years rolled by, my weight became an active, constant battleground in my mind. I spent my entire youth planning to lose weight. I tried almost everything, including grueling crash diets that left me exhausted and starved. But nothing was sustainable. Every intense restriction ended the same way: with me giving up, feeling defeated, and slipping right back into old habits.
Because I was desperate for a change, I became the perfect target for quick-fix marketing. I found myself drawn to every advertisement, pill, or supplement that promised fast, effortless fat loss. I was looking for a shortcut. What I didn’t know then, and what took me decades to truly understand, is that shortcuts never lead to sustainable results.
1The hidden cost and the wake-up call
Living with excess weight wasn’t just a physical burden; it took a heavy toll on my emotional well-being and professional life. Our society can be incredibly unkind to overweight individuals, often passing silent judgments or treating us differently.
One of the most frustrating daily reminders of my struggle was something as simple as clothes shopping. Walking into a store, I’d quickly find that the choices for larger sizes were incredibly narrow. It felt like the fashion world had decided that if you were overweight, you didn’t deserve to look or feel good. Whatever I managed to find felt compromising, boxy, and rarely looked the way I wanted it to. It felt like a constant dent to my self-esteem.
That anxiety followed me everywhere, especially whenever someone suggested taking a group photo. I was always the first to volunteer to be the cameraman, not out of generosity, but out of a desperate need to surrender my spot in the frame and hide safely behind the lens. Being extremely overweight, I felt like I never looked good, and fading into the background was the only way to shield myself from the painful reality staring back from the screen.
Professionally, the strain was just as real. Then, a single, sharp moment shifted everything. My boss looked at me one day and passed a comment that pierced right through my denial:
“Ishfaq, you are killing yourself.”
My boss, the day everything changed
Those words became the ultimate driving force for my journey. I honestly started to look at my life and realised it was the absolute truth: I was slowly killing myself through my bad eating habits, and something had to change. I could no longer pretend to ignore the terrifying reality of what lay ahead. How could I unsee the looming threats of diabetes, a heart attack, or a stroke? I saw the heavy penalty of all the diseases linked to being overweight rushing directly toward me, yet there I was, just standing still, waiting for a miracle to happen. I finally woke up to the fact that no miracle was coming. If I wanted to survive, I needed to turn my life around and take the right steps sooner rather than later.
2The lockdown turning point and the power of diet
Then, the world paused. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it brought a lot of uncertainty, but it also gifted me something I desperately needed: time.
Isolated at home, I stopped looking for miracles in a bottle and started looking at the science. I immersed myself in clinical research, medical journals, and scientific studies about the human body, metabolism, fat cells, and nutrition. Through this research, I discovered a foundational truth that changed my entire philosophy:
The best day of my life was the day I decided to commit to a keto lifestyle. Armed with my new scientific understanding, I sat down with a pen and paper. I manually calculated my body mass index (BMI), tracked my body fat ratio, and mapped out my daily macronutrient needs. I stopped guessing and started focusing on nutrition in its truest sense.
3My silent anchor
I did the research, but I didn’t walk this path alone. My wife was, and still is, the quiet force that made my transformation possible.
While she didn’t spend hours reading the scientific papers with me, she did something much more profound: she listened to my needs. Every time I handed her a strict breakdown of my daily macros, she took them into the kitchen without a single complaint. She became the gatekeeper of my nutrition, preparing my diet meals exactly to spec, making sure every gram of protein, fat, and carb matched my goals. Her dedication was the anchor that kept me from drifting.
4Slow, steady, and lasting victory
Instead of rushing to see immediate drops on the scale, I intentionally chose a slow, measured pace. I wanted my body to adapt well, so the weight would stay off for good and my health would stay protected.
Before long, the changes became impossible to ignore. Family, friends, and colleagues started noticing the physical shift. The compliments and encouragement started pouring in, giving me a powerful wave of motivation that pushed me forward during tougher weeks.
My education didn’t stop, either. Over a two-year period, I spent countless hours going through a massive sea of online wellness information. I had to learn, unlearn, and relearn concepts again and again, because there is a vast amount of conflicting information out there, and unfortunately, a lot of it is flat-out wrong.
By taking it one meal at a time, I reached my goal figure in exactly two years. Even better? I have successfully maintained it for the last four years.
5Giving back to you
I built this website because I remember exactly what it feels like to face the world when you are uncomfortable in your own skin. I know the quiet, exhausting toll of day-to-day interactions, the crushing anxiety of clothes shopping, and the heartbreak of countless failed attempts.
I spent years investing my own time, energy, and resources to finally decode the truth about weight loss. Now, I want to hand that hard-earned knowledge directly over to you. This platform is completely free: there are no paywalls, no hidden fees, and no mandatory registrations.
The ultimate catalyst for building this platform came from a brief, heartbreaking encounter in the hallways of my office building. There was a man who worked in another department, someone I didn’t know personally, but we would frequently pass each other in the corridor and share a friendly, passing smile. He was extremely overweight, and it was clear that his health was beginning to fail him. One day, he stopped me. Looking at me with a mixture of awe and hope, he asked about my transformation. He wanted to know how I did it, and if I could help him do the same. I immediately invited him into my office, eager to share everything, but he was in a rush. He smiled, promised he would return in a day or two so we could sit down properly, and walked away.
He never got that day or two. Within a month, he unexpectedly passed away. He left this world behind, along with thousands of unfulfilled promises he had made to himself about finally taking control of his health. Life simply ran out of patience, and it refused to give him one more chance.
His tragedy broke my heart, but it also lit a fire inside me. I refuse to stand by and watch his story repeat itself in the lives of others. I know there are millions of people right now living the exact same painful, high-stakes reality that I used to live. I know I cannot change the whole world, but if I can change the trajectory of just one life, it is worth it. This website is my definitive, practical step toward that goal.
This is my way of giving back. My mission is to break down complex body science into the simplest, most practical steps possible, so that you can skip the confusion, bypass the dangerous shortcuts, and reclaim the vibrant, healthy life you truly deserve.
If you are tired of the cycle and ready for a change, you are in the right place. Welcome to your new, sustainable, and healthy lifestyle.
